Libbi Jane,
Last night you went to bed as a one year old, and today you woke up as a TWO year old!!! How in the world has it been two years since you were born?! In some ways it seems like just yesterday, but then in other ways I can't even remember what our lives were like before you. It's hard to believe that two years ago your Daddy and I were trying to guess who you would look like, what your little personality would be like, and how ultimately how our lives would change. We had no idea what to expect, but we knew it would be good. :)
As I rocked you before bed on your last night as my one year old baby, I thought about how much our lives have changed. Two years ago, I was the same momma sitting in the same chair in the same nursery rocking my baby. But just as some things have stayed the same, so many have changed. You have learned so much over these past two years and so have I. As you've learned how to navigate your way around your world, I've learned how to navigate my way right alongside you. Just as I have learned so much about you, I've also learned so much from you!
You have brought us more joy than we ever thought possible. You make us laugh every single day! You are so full of life and your enthusiasm is contagious. Seeing new experiences through your eyes makes even the smallest of things exciting - From "BIIIIG TRUCKS!" on the road to a "BABY BUG!!" on the front porch." :) You go full force from the moment you wake up until the moment your head hits the pillow at night. ("momma's pil-woah" to be exact - ha!)
One of the things that I love most about you is your adventurous spirit. You are not afraid to try new things (you obviously didn't get this trait from me - haha!) and you approach obstacles with a sheer determination that I envy. No matter the task at hand, you won't give up until you've given it your all - and you usually succeed! By now we should probably be used to it, but you still surprise us daily with what you're capable of. I pray that you will always be so willing to try new things and that you will not be deterred by any obstacles that you may encounter.
For almost the entire first two years of your life, it was just me and you. You were my first and my only baby for exactly 96 weeks. You will never know how much I cherished our time together. Maybe one day when you're a momma to your own little girl or boy you'll realize how much I loved being able to have that special time with you (and being able to have you all to myself for a little while) :) More than anything, I hope that one day you'll read this letter (or this blog) and know how much I love you and how much you mean to me. You and Laney are two of my proudest accomplishments and two of my greatest blessings in life. You fill our home with laughter and our hearts with love. You are our joy and we love you more than anything!!
