long weekend...

Happy Memorial Day!  We are back from the Lake a little earlier than expected...the weather didn't cooperate with us :(

A good night's sleep and sunshine were no where to be found, but a good book and fun times with the fam were definitely on the agenda!  I can honestly say that I'm coming home just as pale as I was when we left (what's a girl gotta do to get a little color?!) and unfortunately, I may be a pound or two heavier due to all the delicious food we ate and the fact that I never once had to get into a bathing suit!

We had high hopes for Libbi to enjoy the lake since both Jeffrey and I do, but she didn't seem too keen on the actual "lake experience."  It could have been the fact that she resembled Chris Farley's "Fat Guy in a little Coat" while she was in her life jacket or a distant relative of Jaba the Hut. Needless to say, she enjoyed playing on the boat more than she actually liked riding on it.  Maybe she was just a little too upset about not being able to get her tan on or being able to sport her red, white, and blue bikini for Memorial Day (I tried to tell her that she still has the 4th of July, but she wasn't having it).

 Libbi's Top 5 Lake Fave's:
1. swinging (can you blame her? look at that view!)
2. eating
3. walking around
4. playing peek-a-boo
5. hanging out with her momma and daddy
Libbi's Top 5 Not So Fave's:
1. boat rides...or at least the life jacket she was made to wear during the boat ride.
2. sleeping
3. long car rides
4. rainy days
5. not getting to show off her bikini body that she's worked so hard for ;0)

We're back home today just enjoying the Memorial Day Holiday and trying to get all the laundry and unpacking done.  I can't believe that LAST YEAR on Memorial Day we were celebrating, but not with our sweet girl!  It's hard to imagine what our life was like without her.  This is a picture of Jeffrey and I last Memorial Day....please, no comments on my size or his hair - ha! ;)

Since Jeffrey is golfing today, us girls might try to get in a little bit of shopping...after all, we do have a first birthday to get ready for....only 23 more days!
Happy Memorial Day!

weekend re-cap and prayers...

We had a pretty relaxing weekend....which is always nice if you ask me :)
Jeffrey took us girls out to breakfast on Saturday morning.  Libbi enjoyed her first IHOP pancake and only slightly offended the waitress by giving her the "stink face" every time she attempted to speak to her - ha!  I feel so bad when she glares at people....I feel like I have to explain that she's really a sweet girl, and that they shouldn't take it personally, she's just trying out new expressions....hopefully she will move on to a new (kinder) face soon ;)
While Jeffrey played golf, Libbi and I did a little bit of shopping and then went to pick up Aunt Missie.  We enjoyed having her over for dinner and as our spend-the-night guest for the weekend!  Libbi slept late on Sunday (I guess she wore herself plumb out from all that standin' she did on Saturday!) and after a breakfast of apple-cinnamon-pancakes (made by yours truly) we were off to church.

Libbi did her usual screaming/crying/please don't leave me routine while Jeffrey dropped her off in the nursery.  Again, I always feel so guilty that she causes such a stink.  I feel like I need to explain to the sweet ladies in the nursery that she's really not usually like this, and that I don't know what on earth gets into her, and that she really is a sweet girl.....oh well, if she can't be the cute, smiling baby in the nursery, at least she can be the fashionably dressed one :)

After church, our whole family met for lunch.  My dad is leaving in the morning to go to Indonesia for two weeks.  He will be on a medical mission trip as well as hosting vacation bible schools while he is there.  My dad has such a heart for missions and truly loves spreading the gospel of Christ.  He is one of those people that just radiates the love of Christ.  He always has a kind word, a funny joke, or a hug and a pat on the back to share.  He has never met a stranger.
If  you think about it, will you please pray for him over the next two weeks as he travels and resides in Indonesia? Please pray for his health, his safety, his mission team, and that the hearts of the people they come in contact with will be receptive and open to the message they are bringing.  And while you're at it....please pray for my mom as she spends the next two weeks without him.  I am trying to talk her into taking a "stay-cation" at my house :)

After lunch we took a few pictures (which Jeffrey just loves! ha!)
My sweet mom and dad :)
Mom, Dad, and Missie (aka...Auntie Biotic)
Justin, Mandie, and Blakeley :)
Our little family

Poor Libbi did NOT like the grass....she kept trying to lift up her legs so they wouldn't touch it. She is such a girl ;)
The rest of the day was spent just relaxing and catching up on some laundry (thankfully, I think Libbi is FINALLY over the stomach bug - woohoo!!!) We are counting down our last days of school....only TWO LEFT!!!!

Have a great week and thank you for praying for my dad!
I love you dad and I am so proud of you!!

tennis, pigtails, and a bug....

Well....it's official.  Libbi had her first stomach bug.
Bless her little heart. At least she won't remember it, but you better believe I will.....

She got sick on Saturday morning as we were on our way to watch Jeffrey play tennis.  After an impromptu bath, four wardrobe changes (two for her and two for me), and one stop to drop our comforter off at the cleaners (somebody may have thrown up on it!) we finally made it to the tennis courts...just in time to see Jeffrey shaking hands with his opponent as the match came to an end.

Sorry we missed you playing, Jeffrey!  But, Congrats on second place :)

We took it easy for the rest of the day Saturday and then we all went to bed early.  I took a picture of her Saturday night, because she just looked so cute sleeping.

Come Sunday morning, it was a whole 'nother story....I went in to wake her up for church and found her a bit, shall we say, preoccupied.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...
Don't worry, it is only evidence of the aftermath...not the actual damages - ha!
notice there is no bumper, no sheet, no mattress cover, and no blanket on or near her crib.

notice the changing pad is completely missing (and there is a bottle of "poo-pouri" on the shelf!)

Needless to say, I was seriously wishing for some kind of contraption to lift her out of her bed without having to touch her....a crane, some duct tape, or at least a pair of latex gloves to wear!

Poor Libbi.  Poor, poor, Libbi.

She seemed to feel fine on Sunday, just a little puny.  We kept our PJ's on all day and just took it easy.  I took care of Libbi and Jeffrey took care of the laundry.  He is such a blessing in times like this, because he knows stomach bug "issues" are on the top of my panic attack list and he doesn't hesitate to take care of all the "dirty work" and just let me love on our girl.  Thanks, Jeffrey! :0)

While we were hanging around the house, Libbi relaxed and read a magazine while I experimented with some new hairstyles.  She is such a trooper!

Not quite sure how she feels about her pigtails....

I think she likes her new look :)

Now as far as what happens after she takes out her bows, I take no responsibility for this look.  All I can say is, throw her a bone, she wasn't feeling well....ha!
Love you sweet girl and I'm glad you're feeling better ;)

Hope everyone had a great Monday!

mommy and me....

I hope everyone is having a great Monday!  Since I basically wrote a book for my Mother's Day post yesterday, I thought I would just post a few pictures today.... ;0)

Here we are before church Sunday morning.  At this point, Libbi is still blissfully unaware of the fact that she is about to go to her idea of torture chamber...aka.... the church nursery.

This week Jeffrey dropped her off by himself, because we thought that might be a little less stressful on all of us, but ummmmm.....not so much.
She's still a hot mess of a crying baby when we pick her up. (And no, this is not a picture of her from the nursery...it's actually one of her pitching a fit when she didn't get her way, but you get the idea).

After church my mom and dad came over for a Mother's Day visit :)
Libbi loves her Mimzy and Buddy...they can always make her laugh!

A Mother's Day picture of me, my mom, and Libbi Lou.  Please disregard the fact that Libbi is about two seconds away from spitting in this picture.  She may have been a little tired of having her picture made by this point - ha!

I love this picture of Libbi and my mom, because I think Libbi looks like such a big girl in it, but on the other hand, I don't like this picture because Libbi looks like such a big girl in it!
And, oh...those arms!  You better believe that sleeveless shirts are a staple in her summer wardrobe!

And, just for fun...a few of Libbi's current "hobbies"

"Running" when her daddy chases her

Crawling into tiny spaces and laughing when someone has to come "fish" her out.

Perfecting her "stink face"
(here she is giving it to my shoe....what can I say, I just had boot camp...it was her own fault for picking it up!)
Here she is giving the "stink face" to a waiter when we were out to eat the other night.  Apparently she wasn't too pleased with the "specials"

Trust me, she is even sweeter than she looks - ha!
Oh, how I love this sweet girl....stink face and all!! :)

monday musings...

I haven't posted in a week....(save my little "dog" post from yesterday...but that doesn't really count) and that's probably the longest I've gone without posting in months!
We have just been busy with ....life. Hopefully, I will be able to actually make a real post one of these days instead of just a few random musings...but for today, it's just a case of the Monday Randoms (and lots of pictures)....
*  I survived boot camp. Twice.  It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be (except for the fact that no one mentioned we were going to be weighed (gasp) and have our body fat calculated (double gasp!)) If I had known that I surely would NEVER have signed up.  Regardless, I made it through and will be going again tomorrow....still a little reluctantly, but I'm going nonetheless.
*  Libbi has a new "stink face" (as we like to call it) that she will throw out to anyone that crosses her.  It probably doesn't help that we laugh every time she does it.  She has basically scared off every person she's come in contact with over the past week.  Don't mess with this baby....she means business.
*  Libbi's new favorite game is, "chase."  Jeffrey will say, "I'm gonna getcha" and she will take off just a squealin' and laughin'.  Again, we laugh every time she does it....which is only a problem when she steals the remote and takes off at lightning speed so no one can get her....then it's not so funny anymore...
*She also loves to find our car keys and hold them up while she says, "bye" which comes out sounding like, "b I-I-I-I-I" - she is such a little southern belle ;)
*  I told Jeffrey the other day that I feel like we are living in a Lady Gaga video (minus the crazy outfits) with the way that Libbi "talks" all the time.  It feels like she's singing "Bad Romance" or one of Lady Gaga's other songs (which totally sound like gibberish to me) with all her gaga's and baba's and dada's.
*  Jeffrey was supposed to be out of town today and tomorrow, but his flight got cancelled due to the bad weather.  I felt bad for him that his trip was postponed, but it was so nice to have him home!  Especially when I came home from work and found him grilling out steaks and working hard in the kitchen- what a sweet hubby and daddy he is! ;0)
*  There are only three more Monday's left in this school year....Hallelujah!  Which means I am three Monday's closer to being home with my sweet girl FULL TIME!!!!  Praise the Lord! :0)

And in honor of our fourth to last Monday of school....here is our Mommy and Me picture :)
