Happy Half Birthday!

Sweet Libbi Jane....six months ago today you came into our lives and we were forever changed!  I can't believe you have been with us for half of a year!  We have celebrated The Fourth of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving with you.... and in just a few days we will celebrate your first Christmas!

Since it is your "half birthday" today, we (and by "we" I mean "I") decided to celebrate! In the effort to keep from running people off with my forever loooong post, I will save our birthday pictures for another day! ;0) But here is a little sneak peek of the festivities....

You have changed so much in these first six months that I cannot even imagine how much you will change in the next six months!

You are wearing a size three diaper.  You wear a wide range of clothes!  Most of your 6 month outfits are too small, but if it is a 6 - 12 month then you can still wear it.  You wear some 9-12 months and some 12 months!  You are definitely a growing girl!!  When we went to the doctor yesterday you weighed in at 18 pounds and 8 ounces!  You are 27 inches long.  You have gained more than 10 pounds and grown almost 9 inches since we brought you home from the hospital six months ago!

We have so many cute outfits for you - just precious as can be, BUT girl, you love to be naked!  As soon as you are in your birthday suit you are smiling and laughing and happy as a clam.  And....I know that one day you will probably hate me for this, but I just couldn't resist!!

You are the MOST social little thing.  You talk from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to sleep.  When we put you down to go to sleep you will talk and sing and growl until you gradually get quieter and quieter until you are finally silent and then we know you have fallen asleep!

You have started to talk to us and we love it!  You will look at your daddy and me and just talk and talk with the biggest smile on your face like you are telling us all about your day and we just eat it up!!

You have also started growling.  I don't know how your throat is not completely raw, because you growl like an animal all day long!  You still love to "sing" and your favorite "note" is one that could completely shatter windows.  Every dog in our neighborhood is probably in misery, but it is music to our ears! ;0)

You loooooove to stand up.  You will push up on your little legs and then stare around to see who is watching and just beam with pride!  You are so proud of all that you accomplish and we are too!!

One of my most favorite things that you do now is when you get excited to see me.  When I come to get you up in the morning you will kick and kick and smile your little heart out as soon as you see me!  When I walk down to your classroom to see you during the day you immediately reach for me and smile this big grin that just melts my heart.  When your daddy comes home from work in the afternoon you practically jump out of your skin to get to him.  You can't wait for daddy to come love on you!

You now have two bottom teeth, but you definitely try to keep them a secret!  It is a rare occasion when you will let us see them.  As soon as you open your mouth, your tongue comes out, so your teeth are always hidden.  Just about the only time we can see them is when you are crying (which is not very often) or a rare moment when you are feeling generous.  I was so proud...you never even showed any signs of teething (besides the constant drool and chewing on EVERYTHING!).  You never fussed or stopped sleeping through the night.  You just stayed your happy little self and all of a sudden one day I noticed that you had not one, but TWO teeth poking through!

You still nurse six times a day, but you are having your first delicious taste of rice cereal today!  Since you can't have birthday cake, you will get rice cereal instead.  I will do a post on your rice cereal experience later.

You love to roll from your back to your belly, but you are not too keen on rolling from your belly to your back.  You will scoot all over the place in the blink of an eye and if there is something on the floor (even the tiniest little speck) you will inevitably find it.....this month we have become VERY aware of how quickly things can change once you become mobile.

You have become so much more aware of your surroundings these past couple of weeks.  I love to watch your face and see your eyes just studying everything around you and taking it all in.  You are constantly watching and listening to everything (your daddy would probably say you get this from me!)

You are close to sitting up on your own, but you are not quite there, yet.  I am sure by the time I write your seven month post you will be ready for your own recliner!

You are such a happy baby and you love to laugh (and you better believe we LOVE to hear you laugh!) You used to only laugh when we tickled you (you are extremely ticklish - you get that from me, too!) but now, you will laugh when your daddy makes silly faces or when we play "peek-a-boo" with you.  You have just started laughing when we laugh.  I'm sure we sound like a looney family, because your daddy and I will "fake" laugh until you start laughing with us, and then we are just a whole bunch of laughin' hyenas!

Libbi Jane, we love you more than anything on this earth and we are so thankful for you each and every day!  These past six months have been full of more love and laughter than we ever thought possible.  Loving you has made me so much more aware of the love that my mom and dad (your Mimzy and Buddy) have for me  and the love that my Savior has for me!  I love you sweet girl and I love being your momma!

Happy Half Birthday!
