31 days... day 12; 17months

now, how's that for a title full of numbers? :)

we're on day 12 of my 31 days of blogging series. (to see the whole series and to read more about "digging deeper" click HERE).

on day 11 of the series, october 11th - laney turned 17 months old! don't ask me how that happened, because i honestly have no idea. i feel like we JUST brought her home from the hospital! in some ways she's still my itty bitty (chunky!) baby, but in other ways she's definitely growing into a "big girl." so for posterity's sake, here's a little bit about sweet laney james in her 17th month of life.

laney girl, you are still growing like a weed! you weigh around 26-28ish lbs. although it's hard to get an accurate reading of your exact weight through all of the kicking/screaming/gnashing/thrashing when you're on the scale. i feel your pain sister, i feel your pain. so in the spirit of camaraderie, we'll round down to 26 lbs. :)

the one thing i do know is that you weigh more than your sister did at this age and you're taller, and your foot is bigger. now, some might see that as a problem since you can't wear most of her old clothes. but not me - i'm a half glass full kinda girl-and i see it as a prime shopping opportunity. i'm still trying to convince your daddy of this, though . :-)

i have a feeling that will be a recurring theme for many years to come - ha!

you're starting to "talk" a little more. actually, you talk all.day.long - we just don't know what you're saying. you have added a few actual words to your vocabulary, though. you can say, "momma, da-da, hey, bye, night-night, all gone, no, go, and what sounds like "elmo" (of course). you can make the animal sounds for a dog, bear, lion, bird, duck, cow, and horse. hearing you growl like a bear is one of our favorites. it's always good for a laugh.

you love your sister just as much as you love to torment your sister. ;)

if she has it, you want it. doesn't matter what it is. y'all can have the EXACT same cup filled with the EXACT same drink, and you'll still reach for hers every.single.time.
it drives her batty and you know it. poor libbi has taken to putting things where "yay-knee can't reach it" or asking us to "please block yay-knee from my cup" when she has to go potty. ;)

you are still a momma's girl. annnnd we still have to leave you screaming and crying in the nursery on sundays. (this is after about 100 drop-offs in the nursery....at least you're consistent??) you are also a daddy's girl, though. nothing makes you more excited than hearing him come home from work in the afternoons. you immediately run up to him, yell, "DA-DA!" and then look at him, just daring him to chase you. and when he does, you laugh like crazy.

you are our little daredevil. you want to try whatever your sister is doing and you do not like being told, "no." you love to climb and jump. much to my hearts dismay. :)

changing your diaper and/or your clothes is the bane of my existence. seriously.
you HATE having your diaper changed almost as much as you hate having your clothes changed. it is a constant battle every single stinkin' time. and it is exhausting. but as soon as it's over, you jump up and you're back to your happy self.

laney james, we are so blessed to have you as part of our family. we love you to pieces. you are full of spunk and we love watching your little personality shine. i can't wait to see what the future holds for you! happy 17months laylay!

{i promise i'll post more pictures once my computer decides to cooperate!}
