thanksgiving...

A little Thanksgiving acrostic on this Thanksgiving Day. Cheesy? yes. But, I was a kindergarten teacher, "cheesy" is in my blood. the cheesier, the better. I love it.
This isn't my first acrostic, and it certainly won't be my last :)

THANKSGIVING

T - Together. I am so thankful for my family and that we take every opportunity we can to get together. I'm thankful that we celebrated Thanksgiving at MawMaw and Grandad's house on Sunday and that Grandad was able to join us.

H - Health. I am so thankful to have two healthy babies! After Laney's surgery a few months back, we really gained a new perspective on what a gift it is to have healthy children. I am thankful that we have the peace of knowing that even if our children are not healthy in this life; they will be forever healed and healthy in their eternal lives!

A - Additions. I am thankful for the new additions to our family this year. Both immediate and extended! Of course, I have to be honest and say that one new addition in particular is my favorite, but the others are not close behind! We welcomed new cousins - Lyla and Khoen. We welcomed new friends and "futures" - Bailey and Dave. And we "officially" welcomed T.J (although he was already considered family). ;-)

N - New Beginnings. I am thankful to be given a new beginning each and every day. I never cease to be amazed that the Lord will let me start afresh no matter what the previous day entailed. What a gracious God to allow me to start each day with a clean slate. Were it not for the promise of new beginnings, I know those tough days would seem that much tougher.

K - Kindness. I am so thankful for the kindness of strangers. The sweet lady at Kroger that always gives Libbi a sticker. The elderly couple that will wave and smile each of the 500 times that my child waves at them first. The man that holds the door open for us at the mall while I maneuver our double stroller through the tiny opening. The kind employees at chick-fil-a that will bring our food to the table so I don't have to wait in line with two babies. The man that chased us down at the store because Libbi had dropped her "lovey" and he wanted to make sure we didn't leave without it. It's a blessing to know there are still "good people" in this world.

F - Forgiveness. I am so thankful for the forgiveness of my Savior. What an amazing God that would offer up His only son to die for my sins. I am so undeserving, but eternally grateful for the gift of forgiveness and for the redeeming love of my Savior.

U- Unexpected Blessings. I am thankful for the unexpected blessings that have been poured out on our family this year.  Our lives this past year have been full of ups and downs. We've faced times of need and we've had times of plenty. Through it all, I'm thankful that the blessings of the Lord never fail. Sometimes the sweetest blessings are the ones that are most unexpected.

L - Laughter. I am so thankful for laughter! I am thankful that my family can laugh together and enjoy each other's company. I'm thankful for the laughter of two precious baby girls that just warms my heart each and every time I hear it. The way that they've started to make each other laugh is enough to make my hurt full for a lifetime. I'm thankful for a husband that makes me laugh every day. I'm thankful for friends that I can laugh with and forget about all the stresses of every day life. Sometimes laughter really is the best medicine. :)

There are so many things that I am thankful for this year. Blessings big and small. Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time to reflect back on all that He has done for us over the year, but my prayer is that I would have an attitude of Thanksgiving all year round! I hope you and your family have a wonderful day today!!
