5 Weeks and Counting...

Libbi celebrated five weeks on Monday...she is such a big girl! We have noticed a few new things as she is getting older. She is starting to make some new "baby" noises - cute little coos and a few not so cute screeches....

She LOVES to be on her tummy and will work soooo hard to push herself up - grunting and panting the whole time! I must say, she is one of the loudest babies I have ever heard....she rarely sits/lays quietly. She even grunts in her sleep (and snores at times, too...she must get that from her daddy - surely not from me!)

Her latest "trick" is to "tee-tee" as soon as her diaper comes off...EVERY time! We try to "catch" it before it's too late, but are rarely successful as she seems to have some sort of radar for the minute, no the second, she is without "cover". Personally, I think she must be the smartest baby (and I'm not the least bit biased), not only because she is keenly aware of when she is diaper-less, but also because she instinctively knows every time, and I mean EVERY TIME we are going to sit down to eat a meal...it's like she can smell the food and wants a taste! No matter what she will wake up/stir/cry/fuss, etc until we pick her up! Jeffrey and I have both become very skilled at eating with a baby in our lap....guess we better get used to it!

On her five week birthday, she pretty much took it easy. We had a very laid back day with lots of naps, so momma did not get her usual amount of pictures in. (And for those of you that were worried, we now have a new lens for our camera so I can once again stalk my baby like the paparazzi).

All was quiet in the Tippins household on Monday, until around 5:00. Libbi made some of her usual noises (since she's a lady, I won't share the specifics) and I was just about to put her down to change her diaper, when I noticed something on the FRONT of her onesie. Upon further investigation I saw (and smelt) that she had basically exploded and the "debris" was not only up her back, but up to her chest as well! So needless to say, she was quickly stripped, that outfit was burned (just kidding) and she was promptly placed in the bath.

The pics from her 5 week birthday are after her full body cleansing (hence the slick hair/bald look in the pics). Thankfully, another of her newly found skills is sitting through a bath without screaming (but usually leaving some "floaters" in the tub and then trying to drink the water...but that's a whole 'nother story!)

Here are a few pics of our so fresh and so clean 5 week old Libbi on Monday (7/27)....

Totally relaxed and ready for bed!

Not too happy with me for sharing the embarrassing incident that led up to this bath...

Never fear! I still made a sign (unfortunately my handwriting is better than my picture taking skills...I was too focused on Libbi and cut off part of the "5." oh well....better than cutting off part of her, right?!)

Happy Five Weeks, you little stinker!

Month One...dOnE!

I cannot believe that our Little Libbi Lou is a month old already - whew...time flies!! We went to the doctor yesterday (7/22) on her one month bday for her checkup and she did great!!! The doctor said, "All I have to tell you is keep up the good work!!" Libbi is a happy, healthy, and growing baby girl. We are so blessed and thank God every day for her health and for our beautiful baby - what a blessing she is to us already! It is amazing to think that such a tiny little baby can bring so much love! As we pass her one month milestone I am reminded at how much she has changed already! Here are a few pictures of our sweet, growing girl!

Day ONE...Happy BIRTH day LJT!

Week ONE...Libbi's first dr's appt 7lbs 12 oz and 19.25 inches long

Week TWO...spending some quality "tummy time" with daddy

Week THREE...resting in her bouncy seat (we had yet to see her eyes very often!) still sooooo sleepy, but obviously starting to eat well ;-)

Week FOUR...starting to become more alert, figuring out that she can s-t-r-e-t-c-h out, and discovering how much she loves her pacifier!

ONE MONTH...bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to play!

"For this child we have prayed and the Lord has granted us what we asked of him..." 1 Samuel 1:27

Libbi is growing...that's for sure! Check out the latest from Week #4

On Monday, July 20th Libbi turned 4 weeks old!! On this day, the weather was unseasonably cool so(even though we never left the house) Libbi thought it would be fitting to wear one of her stylish warm-up suits. How can I argue when she looks so stinkin' cute in it?! In honor of her four-week-bday Libbi got a new toy! Since she is starting to see more colors now, she really enjoys "playing" with her Boppy Play Mat....although at times she has a bit of trouble concentrating on the task at hand...
Check out some of the super fun things Libbi did today!!

She started off playing with her new toy....

...then she got a little distracted and began "working" on something else! (which then led to "work" for momma...)

After all that working and playing she started to get REALLY sleepy...

...and finally took a nap. Libbi loves to smile in her sleep...she always has sweet dreams!

When she woke up,she decided to show off a little - Isn't she soooo clever??? She's showing us ALL 4 chins in honor of her 4 week birthday....precious!!

Look at me...I just turned three (weeks old, that is)!

On Libbi's three week birthday (Monday, July 13th) she decided that she wanted to wear a party dress in honor of the special occasion. Since she is growing so fast and will probably outgrow some of the darling dresses in her extensive wardrobe before she even gets a chance to wear them, I gave in and let her put on some of her "fancy" clothes! (can you tell who rules the roost already?!) Once she was in her "sunday finest" she turned into a true diva - refusing to believe that she is only three weeks old - she thinks she is grown already....whew - we've got trouble on our hands!
We spent our day doing some of Libbi's favorite things - and since she is awake more than 10 minutes at a time now, she has lots more favorites! Check out all the pictures below to see how precious Libbi celebrated her special day...

I gave Libbi a sign so she would know it was her three-week birthday...

...she thought about it a minute....

...then decided that she is actually "five" not three-weeks-old! (so stubborn already - just like her daddy!)

We then had a quick wardrobe change into some more casual clothes

and she proceeded to do another of her favorite pastimes - chillaxin with her pacifier!

Look at me...I just turned three (weeks old, that is)! part two

Here are a few more pictures of Libbi's fun-filled three week birthday...

Getting older is always a little depressing

Nothing a little dancing can't solve

striking a pose...America's Next Top Model???

Finally, doing what she does best....sleeping!

...during the day, of course!

Oh my goodness, Oh my soul, Libbi Jane is Two Weeks Old!

Libbi spent her two week birthday doing some of her favorite things...

Reading her favorite book of "Nursery Rhymes"

Catching up on sleep...

Crying (but not too much!) ;-)

...and spending her "awake" time trying on cute little dresses!

(There was also some eating and diaper changing involved, but a girl's gotta keep some things private!)
Happy Two Week Birthday Sweet Girl!

Happy 4th of July!

We had a great 4th and were so happy to be able to spend it with our family. We took Libbi on her first "road trip" (of MANY I'm sure...) to Mimzy and Buddy's house....she loved it! She was so comfortable there that I think she slept the WHOLE time! ;-) Here are a few pictures of "Daddy's Little Sparkler" from her first 4th of July....

Libbi's check-up and newborn pics...

Libbi Jane had her first check-up and it was a success! When we went to the doctor on Friday, June 26th Libbi had lost a little bit of her birth weight (down from 8.4 to 7.12) which is totally normal. The doctor asked that we come back in the following Monday just for a weight check to make sure she was beginning to gain some weight back. Since I am exclusively breast feeding (sorry if that is too much info) our doctor did not want to take the chance that she wasn't getting what she needed. She told us that Libbi should gain about an ounce a day. I was a little nervous, because I did not want to have to supplement with formula if she was not gaining weight...but come Monday, I found out I had no reason to worry at all! Libbi weighed in at 8.10 - she gained almost a whole pound in three days!!!! Everyone was shocked - this girl's got an appetite! She is now full of lovely rolls and oh so squishy and cuddly!

Libbi also had her newborn pictures taken on Thursday, July 2 by a wonderful photographer - Jennie Helmuth (check out her website at www.helmuthphotography.com). Jennie was awesome and really made us feel comfortable....especially Libbi who had NO PROBLEM marking her territory all over Jennie, Jennie's floor, the blankets, the beanbags, the props, Momma, Daddy, and just about everything else she came in contact with! Did I mention she was asleep for ALL of this?! What a funny baby!!
Check out a little bit of her pictures at www.helmuthphoto.typepad.com (she's listed as BABY I on July 2nd) ENJOY!!

Little Miss Libbi

Libbi is now 11 DAYS OLD! When I put it that way it does not seem like long at all, but it feels like she has been with us forever...it is hard to remember what life was like before she was born! ;-)
Libbi LOVES to be held and to snuggle...she is a cuddly little thing - and all her rolls just make it easier to love on her! Right now she is still pretty sleepy. We are working on "awake time" but she hasn't quite caught on just yet.... Our biggest struggle at this point is staying awake through a full feeding. She is a little piglet, but will PASS OUT in no time flat. We then have to strip her down, put a cold cloth on her, etc, etc, to try and (make her mad) wake her up....but sometimes we are not too successful. BUT, if that is our worst problem then I think we are doing okay. She is a good sleeper and a generally easy going baby. She usually only cries when she is hungry or has a dirty diaper - other than that, she is sleeping.

It is funny to see her little personality coming out already. She is definitely strong-willed. She LOVES to cover her face with her hands (hence all the pictures with mittens on her...she will scratch up her face in no time flat). It is funny, because she was the exact same way when I was pregnant. We always had a difficult time getting an ultrasound picture of her face because her hands were constantly covering it. She also had hiccups 3-4 times a day while I was pregnant and still does now...which does not make her happy! Pretty much everyone that has come in contact with her had commented on what a "fighter" she is (which I am not sure if that is a good or a bad thing). She definitely has a mind of her own. She will not budge if she does not want to....she will lock her arms and legs and make it entirely too difficult to get her dressed. She will bat your hand away if she does not like what you are putting in her face, whether it be her pacifier, a stethoscope, or a any other medical instrument.

On a side note...I am attaching more pics, but not as many as I would like(we've only taken a few thousand!) I am still trying to figure out how to download them from my new camera and haven't had a lot of time to devote to it...eventually I will and it will be Libbi overload! ;0)

Hanging out with Buddy!

Sitting in her bouncy seat, but trying to "watch" TV...

When we see this face we know there is a diaper change in the VERY near future!

After her first bath....still feeling a little traumatized!

Libbi's one week birthday...can't you tell she was really excited for this milestone?!
